"The big picture is finally well defined. This movie is a good primer on the importance of energy and where people should be directing their efforts to support change."

~ CT (Engineer, Quebec, June 5th, 07)

“Mr. Lightfoot’s DVD “Nobody’s Fuel” suggests energy supply is more important than climate change. I agree. If humans are to have any hope of managing climate change, energy will be a paramount need. That fact is rarely recognized.  Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” dramatizes a potential problem with an Oscar winning performance. It offers nothing of significance by way of a solution. “Nobody’s Fuel” provides a sober assessment of human energy needs and climate change along with a way forward."

~ Duane Pendergast, P.Eng, Ph.D.,
Computare: Thinking about climate change

“In the debates on climate change and energy use, when we are bombarded by messages of doom and gloom, Nobody’s Fuel, at last, brings a word of hope. There is a path to an energy rich future. We are not at the end of ‘life as we know it’; before us a bright new future awaits.”

~ JC, Minister of Religion, retired, (Oakville, Ontario)

"Understanding the facts about energy supply and demand is critically important for all public officials, as well as all other concerned citizens. Mr. Lightfoot's DVD 'Nobody's Fuel' presents more up-to-date, accurate information about energy than any source I have encountered. I encourage anyone interested in our nation's economic future, and anyone concerned about global warming to obtain a copy of the DVD 'Nobody's Fuel', and consider seriously the facts it presents, and what our energy policies should be."

~ Mike McCormack, Member of Congress (Retired); Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy Research and Production from 1973 through 1980.

"Nobody's Fuel is the best resource I have found for understanding humanity's large and growing need for energy. This well-researched DVD covers all important epochs, from the era of wood, which led to extensive deforestation, to the present, with its massive use of fossil fuels.

The twin concerns of global climate change and peak oil are faced directly and factually. The role of various forms of alternative energy in alleviating these matters is discussed. Finally, a practical solution to the world's huge and increasing need for energy is proposed, one that is sustainable into the next millennium.

Anyone who is concerned with the well-being of present and future generations and their demand for energy should view this excellent presentation."

"I found the DVD entitled 'Nobody's Fuel' to be excellent. You obviously spent a lot of time researching the various topics, and the DVD is very professionally done. There are a lot of nuggets of information and I was pleased to see the DVD had a text version that made it easy to revisit points of interest. As a chemist, I would have made a plea for preserving petroeum resources for petrochemicals and all that we get from them - as well as for transportation which you deal with. You also do mention plastic gags etc. but I know people are woefully ignorant of how much we get from petrochemicals and should be worried about returning to a way of life where things were made of wood, bone, ivory, leather etc. (i.e. no cheap synthetic polymers or other critical organic chemicals). Your nuclear scenario that provides long-term energy supply and preserves petroleum for other uses makes a lot of sense. If only our leaders were not just thinking about the next election results until voters eventually get on board and demand action. It is depressing to see people being lulled into a false sense of security by politicians and the media touting solutions like hydrogen and ethanol. At least those who have seen your video will have a better grasp of the issue."

"Thank you for sending to me your DVD entitled 'Nobody's Fuel'. I have viewed it twice and plan to view it again since there are so many cogent points.

Let me say this: it is a finely executed, exceptional, and compelling piece of work that captures the essence of the problem and potential solutions with great detail and, particularly, insight.

It is my sincere hope that you are successful in distributing your work to technical and political communities who are in great need of understanding the energy and environmental problems facing the Nation and the World.

In closure, I have to say that your vision and dedication to the issue of hydrocarbons, energy, and freedom is the most refreshing view that I have seen since the early '70s when energy and environmental problems emerged as global issues.

I am really impressed by your insights and wisdom."

“Nobody's Fuel has fundamentally changed the way I look at our world and our treatment of it, as well as conveyed a real sense of urgency for taking action to resolve the consequences of the relentless appetite for energy in our society. It is a compelling and thought-provoking presentation which I believe will leave a mark on every person viewing it."

~ CT (Engineer, Montreal, Quebec)

"Through a look at historical and current developments in energy use, Doug Lightfoot takes us on a journey through a most-welcome expansion of current notions surrounding what is rapidly becoming "the energy dilemma". This fact-filled document illustrates the absolute necessity of providing the world with not only the efficient use of current energy resources (a drop in the bucket on the actual energy timeline, according to Doug) but also, and most crucially-so, the urgency for developing a strategy that can feed the growing energy demand everywhere in the world.

Even the most radical antinuclear activists will have to stop and re-evaluate the fear of possible nuclear contamination and nuclear winter when considering the scary scenarios possible, as our world moves quickly, into what may easily become "energy winter"

"My daughter saw Al Gore's film at school and I saw it at work. My daughter thought it was very scary and projected a very dismal picture of our future. I liked your straightforward approach and your statement that global warming is not the most important issue facing the world today. I thought the explanations were very clear and the layperson would have no difficulty in understanding the information and graphs. My daughter found it a little too technical at times for her 13 year old brain and I did have to stop it occasionally and fill her in on the concepts behind global warming, carbon fuels, nuclear, etc. One thing that she had trouble digesting was your graph explaining how wealth was associated with energy usage. It took a couple of tries, but I think she got it. The film is a little long and some parts a little boring, hope you don't mind me saying so. Overall, I thought Nobody's Fuel was an excellent source of information on the subject. It should easily convert people to the replacement of carbon fuels to nuclear fast breeder reactors."

~ JB (sales support manager & 13 year old daughter, Pierrefonds, Quebec).

"Your presentation is so packed with information and analysis of all possible energy sources and the negatives and positives of each. In the last few days I have been playing the DVD while I have been working in the house to hear the commentary. It's too much to absorb in one hearing and I love the option of rehearing the facts until they sink it. I like the very factual presentation without hype or overdramatic style. The facts themselves are very powerful. I am a believer in your conclusion. Maybe I had already been convinced about the nuclear option, but your scientific analysis is superb confirmation."

~ JT (community volunteer, Ottawa, Ontario).

"Our neighbour, Doug Lightfoot, has just come out with his DVD. 'Nobody's Fuel', about global warming and alternate fuel sources. It offers an encouraging view point, especially if you have already seen 'An Inconvenient Truth."

~ CT (high school teacher, Baie d'Urfe, Quebec)

"This video explains how important it is to look at nuclear energy, which can solve energy supply and pollution problems.

With world population growing rapidly we will need more energy to satisfy everybody's needs. We are running out of fossil fuel, as well as facing increased pollution. If you look at the last 50 years, it is simple to see how much pollution fossil fuel causes. I thoroughly recommend this video."

~ LB (mechanical tool designer; retired, Pincourt, Quebec)

"I enjoyed your DVD 'Nobody's Fuel', it was easy to understand without being deliberately overly dramatic. It received surprising and unexpected confirmation by the CBS 'Sixty Minutes' TV program on April 8, 2007 about atomic energy developments in France.

Because of the lack of oil and gas and low coal reserves, France faced an energy shortage by building 58 nuclear power plants, based on five standardized designs. They also built a 'waste' reprocessing plant, a fast breeder reactor in Normandy, to obtain the maximum yield from the uranium and eliminate the long term storage problems of nuclear 'waste'."

~ HMB (retired chemist, Pointe-Claire, Quebec).

"I want to thank you very much for making the DVD of Nobody's Fuel available; I watched with great interest over the past weekend. You certainly make a compelling case for the need for us as a society to focus on energy alternatives now - not when present sources run out.

It must be frustrating for you to see the current emphasis being placed almost exclusively on conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energies when your data clearly point out that these strategies (as desirable as they are) can only prove to be stop-gap measures. Hopefully, your campaign to have people understand that nuclear fission energy from fast breeder reactors can provide energy for thousands of years will get through to our political leaders and 'energize' them."

~ EB (Coordinator, computer services, Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Quebec)
